What type of encryption is used?
Send Files Securely uses the latest encryption techniques and algorithms to secure data which includes the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) with a 256-bit key. This is the same encryption standard used by the U.S. government to protect its most confidential and top secret data. The 256 bit-key is derived from your secret password (if provided*) using a function that adheres to RSA Laboratories' Public-Key Cryptography Standards (PKCS). Your secret password and encryption key are never stored and therefore your encrypted file and filename are extremely secure and can only be accessed by using your selected password.
